Video Gallery
The Video Gallery contains a representative example of the many video projects I have written, produced, created, and animated. The Demo entitled Demo Reel to 2009 represents part of the body of work I created while Art Director/Senior Motion Graphics Designer at WMUR-TV, from 1994 to 2009. It is all Standard Definition, since WMUR’s broadcast aspect ratio was standard definition up until a couple of weeks ago (as of this writing on 8/14/11). The Broadcast Packages clip is representative of my work at WMUR creating the entire on-air graphics packages for both the News Department and the daily news magazine format show, New Hampshire Chronicle. You’ll also see a reel of the complete opens, called WMUR Projects, which will give you an idea of the complete entity, showing the full opens, with the music I chose, and how I cut to that music. Every image and animation you see here was created entirely by me, with no in-house collaboration. The producer gave me a title, and I took the project from there. A recent addition, a camera-tracking and compositing project for Waters Corporation (see it in full at http://nugenesis-sdms.waters.com/video.html) added elements to the moving camera shots after they were shot. Another recent production is a series of 15 second spots for Lake Sunapee Bank, done with stock photography and graphics.
There is also a Special Effects piece, showing some of the more challenging effects I have had to create over the years. It includes chroma keying, tracking, particle and 3D effects, as well as rotoscoping. You’ll also notice a turbaned gentleman at the top of the gallery. This clip is to showcase a technology I’m offering, in which any still photograph can be animated, lip-synching to a voice track automatically. It’s quite a cost-saving effect, it holds the viewers’ attention, and it’s use is just beginning to catch on.
The other productions you see are either animations created as part of a larger production (as in the cases of E Ink, Diamond Geology, Delta Education, and Hanover Insurance), or full productions created entirely by Bourke Media. The recently added Delta Education open was created as part of a template graphics project I created for Granite River Studios. I created the Graphic Design Package for the project, color palette, lower third design, backgrounds, etc., and handed it off to Kent, at Granite River Studios, who did the editing and post-production. Art Meets Technology is simply a playful piece I created to illustrate the slogan of Bourke Media.
I work for my clients in a variety of ways: sometimes I am hired by a television production company, which might not have an in-house animator, to create high-end animations and full graphics packages. Sometimes I am hired directly by companies to create the entire production – Bourke Media is fully capable of creating entire media productions, from creative concept and writing, through graphic design, shooting, animation, post-production, and final encoding for delivery.
